A Time for Tradition and Sharing – 80 charitable organisations receive RM800,000 financial aid from Da Ma Cai

Kuala Lumpur, 30 January 2018

80 charitable organisations nationwide receive a total of RM800,000 financial aid from Da Ma Cai as part of its yearly Chinese New Year Festival Charity Programme.

The nationwide Programme held in conjunction with the celebration of Chinese New Year, kicked-off with a national launch at Wisma Harapan, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, headquarters for The Selangor and Federal Territory Association for the Mentally Handicapped (SAMH). A total of 30 charity bodies from Kuala Lumpur and Selangor; and 5 organisations from Pahang received donations amounting to RM350,000.

SAMH was filled with roaring sounds of the drums, gongs and cymbals as the colourful lions greeted guests at the main entrance. This was followed by an outstanding lion dance performance to mark the beginning of the programme. This Programme later sees a cheque presentation ceremony and sumptuous lunch together with Chinese cultural performances to entertain all guests.

Tan Kong Han, Managing Director of Pan Malaysian Pools Sdn Bhd said this community outreach programme aims to assist the community centres for its development and maintenance upkeep, ultimately benefiting the residents of these centres.

“Initiated since 1994, the cumulative contribution of our community outreach programme has surpassed RM16.8 million. We believe that success is not just about what and how well the business does, but also how we could go about helping the society,” said Tan.

“We are very excited when Da Ma Cai approached us if they can host the launch at our venue and we immediately said yes! It is such a happy occasion that we are able to meet so many of our peers from other charitable organisations,” said President of SAMH, Datin Fauziah bt Hj Idris.

“This fund truly comes in time of need for the underprivileged Deaf trainees at our Community Service Centre for the Deaf (CSCD). We hope more corporate bodies will follow Da Ma Cai good example,” Secretary for CSCD, Cindy Leong expressed her appreciation.

Guests were impressed and cheered when children from SAMH went on stage to perform three captivating songs and dance. On the other hand, the children kept bursting into laughter as the clown magician did lots of funny little tricks to tickle them.

Similar events will be held at the Northern and Southern Regions to give out a total of RM450,000 donations at Persatuan Buddhist Malaysia Cawangan Jasin, Jasin, Melaka on 7 February 2018 and Rumah Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Cacat Negeri Perak in Perak on 9 February 2018 respectively.
