The Sikh faith celebrates kindness and charitable acts by human beings, with the belief that good deeds bring people closer to divinity. In this spirit, through its Staff-In-The-Community programme, Da Ma Cai organised a community project at the Gurpuri Foundation, Ampang, the first Sikh run welfare children home in Malaysia.
Da Ma Cai contributed RM5,000 stationery vouchers to children in Gurpuri Foundation to supplement these children with their schooling needs. The remaining RM5,000 were channelled to the purchase of groceries.
“We appreciate Da Ma Cai’s generosity and thoughtful contribution, it definitely timely and has lighten the burden of Gurpuri,” said Sukhdaiv Singh, trustee and founder of Gurpuri Foundation.
The Gurpuri Foundation currently housed 52 Sikh children, aged 4 – 22 years old, from all over Malaysia and has long been in need of funds for the operation of this children welfare home.
As part of this corporate social responsibility activity, a group of volunteers from Da Ma Cai visited the Gurpuri Foundation. The volunteers and the children shared the joy of Vasakhi by tucking in a communal meal of delectable Punjabi delicacies and massala tea while the volunteers learned more about the Sikh way of life.
Da Ma Cai is a brand of Pan Malaysian Pools (PMP), Malaysia’s authorised numbers forecast operator. On an annual basis, Da Ma Cai actively supports various causes in the areas of education, social welfare and public health through a wide range of programmes and activities carried out in the country. Following the acquisition of PMP by Jana Pendidikan Malaysia Sdn Bhd (“JPM”), all of PMP’s net dividends that JPM receives will be donated to The Community Chest. With this structure, Da Ma Cai has effectively been transformed from a for-profit organization into a social business, providing long term donations to The Community Chest for the benefit of the Malaysian community.
